Restaurant TotÚ

Is located in the historical center of Florence, between Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria. The building, originally builded by the Buondelmonte family in the 13th century, was used for the wool market. In 1378 it was burned by the Ciompi, the people who sold the wool. They were protesting against the Medici family whom were governing the city at that time. In the early 1900's the building was donated to the Opera Pia Cucine Popolari (church soup kitchen) still owned today. It was damaged by the Flood of 1966 then restored and in 1968 was given to our parents Totò and Paola who opened this restaurant that we Eleonora and Piero are still managing today...

Our speciality is Steak grilled on wooden embers (not charcoal or stone) which give a wonderful taste. The cooking is typical Tuscan... simple & genuine. Fresh hand made pasta and a large collection of wines and Grappa.
